FAQs
-
We have had hundreds of people graduate from the Science Comedy Program and many have had both immediate and long-term benefits.
Immediate benefits include increased confidence, greater public speaking skills, and a fantastic experience that is memorable - almost all participants give a public talk that has the audience laughing nonstop!
Longer term benefits will be evidenced by a University of Melbourne study into the Science Comedy Program. Participants have said that their career progression has been turbocharged, that they’re better equipped to get new funding and partnerships from stakeholders, and that they’re trusted by their workplace to speak in a wide variety of settings.
In short, the Science Comedy Program will give you new skills, help you to be a better communicator, and improve your career.

Yes, please click on the application form link to find out the latest costs.
Program fees cover the time of the facilitators and unlock our expertise.
Participants typically get their workplace to cover the costs. Some self-fund rather than getting their workplace to cover the course fees.
Should the course fees be too high for your circumstances, we are open to providing the course on a quid pro quo basis, where you will complete volunteer work for us.

The course is specifically designed for those who might not have significant public speaking experience.
Course topics include how to craft a compelling story, body language, managing nerves and much more.

It’s very easy - fill in the EOI and we will be in touch. The EOI takes about 60 seconds.
If enough people in your city are part of the program, we will run a show there. This is typically aligned with a comedy or fringe festival.
Please note that positions in these festival shows are limited, so we recommend applying early so that we can get you in them.
You don’t have to give a public talk at the end of the program, but we highly recommend that you do as it will be a fantastic experience and help you to gain new skills!

The program has been designed to assist workplaces.
The program generates significant interest from the public and media, which helps generate awareness about the workplace and the fantastic work that is being undertaken there.
Additionally, it increases the pool of trusted spokespeople at an organisation who can speak to the media, public, or partner organisations to broadcast messages that align with the organisation’s strategic direction and daily operations.
Lastly, the program increases the morale and satisfaction of employees - giving them new skills and confidence that will benefit the workplace, teams and departments.
